About

Te Whare Taonga O Raahui Pookeka celebrates the heritage of Raahui Pookeka Huntly. We showcase treasured collections and exhibitions that connect our past with the present while inspiring the future.

Step into our recently refurbished, historic museum to discover the people, places and events that have shaped our town.

Follow the station restoration journey

Huntly’s first railway station opens to the public.

Replaced with the building that still stands today.

Freshly repainted by the Huntly Lions Club.

Relocated to Lake Puketirini to make way for a new station.

The Huntly Museum Te Whare Taonga O Raahui Pookeka Committee begins championing its return to the original site.

The Waikato Alliance undertakes a major station upgrade.

The upgrade is completed, and the Te Huia passenger train commences service.

The station is moved back to its historic location, but tragedy strikes when an arson attack causes severe damage.

Renovations get underway.

Huntly Museum Te Whare Taonga O Raahui Pookeka opens.

A huge thank you to our major sponsors!
